New York Auto Accident Victims: Don't Forget Your No Fault Medical Transportation Reimbursement
If you have been injured in a car accident in the state of New York, one type of reimbursement that you may be entitled to under your No Fault coverage is costs associated with transportation to and from the health care providers you visit.
You can claim your Metro Cards, taxi fares and ambulette services with receipts and your own mileage with a record of your odometer readings at the start and end point of your travels. Keep in mind that in order to be paid back by your insurance carrier for these expenses, you must submit the receipts or mileage readings no more than 45 days after your date of travel.
The IRS has set the medical mileage rate at 24 cents a mile. These rates change yearly and the rates for 2010 will come out shortly.
