- A bumbling caveman
- A sweet talking gecko with an English/New Zealand/Australian Accent
- A lady with a beehive hairdo and an apron
- A young lady telling her boyfriend to shut up because she got a safe driver check in the mail
- A man laying in a car yelling out GPS directions and screaming “recalculating!!”
And all of these commercials are telling you how wonderful their insurance company is because you can save 15% or more on your car insurance, or you are “in good hands” or that “they are on your side”.
All very cute.
The problem is, it’s advertising. And it’s what they are NOT telling you in these commercials that you should be paying close attention to.
I’ve noticed a repeating pattern in all of these commercials. The insurance companies only focus on PROPERTY DAMAGE, and nothing else. If you get into an accident, they will run over and see that your car gets fixed right away (that is, if you remembered to purchase collision insurance).
But, neither the “Mayhem” dude nor the talking gecko never talk about how you will be taken care of if you get injured in a car accident. You know why that is? Because that’s what hits them hard in the pocketbooks. They won’t tell you that after two months of medical treatment, they are going to look to cut your benefits – the benefits you pay for – with a five minute medical exam.
Don’t let these adorable commercials fool you. You get what you pay for. Do your homework and find out which insurance companies don’t treat you like you are the enemy if you file a No-Fault claim. You might just find it’s the company you don’t see on television with the slick ad campaign that has the best customer satisfaction overall.
