When visiting a medical facility, most patients may expect to receive a certain standard of care, but this might not always occur in every situation. Failure to properly evaluate a condition is a type of issue that remains unfortunately common, even if such negligence places the well-being of patients in New York at serious risk. A man in another state was recently awarded a judgment of $26 million in a medical malpractice claim after inadequate care left him with permanent injuries.

The lawsuit

According to reports, the man first visited the hospital after experiencing pain in his leg and foot. During his evaluation, reports indicate that he also shows signs of vascular concerns, and he had a history of similar issues. However, the lawsuit states that doctors failed to properly address his condition and request necessary testing procedures.

The lawsuit asserted that the man was sent home without receiving adequate care and that his condition continued to worsen. A subsequent evaluation reportedly prompted a need to perform an amputation of the lower part of his leg. During legal proceedings, a jury found the facility culpable of negligence and ruled in favor of awarding the plaintiff a substantial monetary judgment.
