Here is my team "Eli's Legs" gearing up to walk in the 2018 Walk To End Alzheimer's at Yaphank Farm in Suffolk County, Long Island.
For the past three years, I have been raising money and walking in this event. I do it to honor my father, Eli, who has been fighting the ravages of Alzheimer's Disease for the past ten years. Currently, he can no longer walk, doesn't remember my family, and needs 24/7 care in a nursing home. When I come to visit, four times a year, he still smiles when he sees me and that is enough.
As you can see, Alzheimer's Disease support is extremely close to my heart. Not only do I raise money and walk every year, but I also run a private FaceBook Group for children whose parents are suffering. Whether they are caregivers or children living far away, they find needed support, a place to vent frustration and a family to share what can only be understood by those going through the exact same thing.
If you are interested in joining me at the 2019 Walk to End Alzheimer's event, please feel free to contact me. You can either join my team or create one of your own.
