Two women suffered injuries in a pedestrian accident in New York. A third woman was taken into custody for allegedly causing the accident due to drunk driving. The accident took place early in the morning on a recent Sunday.

How the pedestrian accident happened

The New York pedestrian crash took place a little before 5 a.m. According to authorities, a car was headed south along Steinway Street in Queens and suddenly veered onto a sidewalk. The motor vehicle then struck an outdoor area, a parked automobile and the two pedestrians, ages 32 and 22.

The pedestrians were hurt and taken to a medical center, where their conditions were described as stable. The woman driving the car, a 30-year-old, was arrested and faces several criminal charges in connection with the accident, including driving while intoxicated, criminal mischief, vehicular assault and reckless endangerment.

An attorney can help

The two individuals injured in the New York pedestrian accident may choose to file personal injury claims against the driver, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages sustained due to the accident. If the driver is ultimately convicted on her criminal charges, proof of the conviction may be presented in civil court to establish negligence regarding the accident. A successfully fought claim may result in monetary damages to cover the injured parties’ medical bills and loss of wages if their injuries prevent them from returning to work for extended periods. Financial damages cannot undo the events leading to the injury-causing collision, but they may help the injured parties experience a sense of justice following the accident.
